Building a Sacred Foundation

Marriage is one of the most sacred commitments we make—and preparing well makes all the difference. This faith-based pre-marital counseling group is created for engaged or seriously dating couples who want to build their relationship on a strong, Christ-centered foundation.
Couple's Shadow

Description:

This group is designed for engaged or seriously dating couples who want to prepare for marriage with intention, prayer, and guidance rooted in faith. Together, couples will explore key topics such as communication, conflict resolution, finances, family dynamics, intimacy, and spiritual connection—all within the framework of biblical principles and values.

Led by a licensed counselor with a Christian worldview, each session includes practical tools, honest conversation, and opportunities for reflection and prayer. Couples will deepen their understanding of one another, clarify expectations, and learn how to build a Christ-centered partnership that can weather the ups and downs of life.

Group Focus May Include:

  • Christ-Centered Foundations: Exploring what it means to build a marriage rooted in faith, grace, and biblical values. Couples reflect on how their relationship with God shapes their relationship with each other.

  • Communication & Conflict Resolution: Learning to speak with love, listen with empathy, and navigate disagreements in healthy, respectful ways. Includes spiritual practices like prayer and forgiveness as tools for reconciliation.

  • Expectations & Roles: Unpacking beliefs about gender roles, responsibilities, and partnership—both practical and spiritual. Couples will discuss how their personal and cultural backgrounds influence their expectations.

  • Emotional & Physical Intimacy: Addressing the importance of emotional closeness, sexual connection, and the sacredness of physical intimacy within marriage, guided by biblical wisdom.

  • Finances & Stewardship: Talking about money in a healthy, transparent way. Couples explore budgeting, giving, saving, and aligning their financial lives with shared values and long-term goals.

  • Family, Boundaries & In-Laws: Preparing for blending families, navigating in-laws, and creating healthy boundaries that protect the marriage as a new, primary relationship.

  • Spiritual Practices as a Couple: Developing rhythms of prayer, worship, and service that support spiritual growth as individuals and as a united team.

  • Lifelong Covenant Mindset: Understanding the difference between a contractual and covenantal view of marriage—exploring how love, sacrifice, and commitment are sustained over a lifetime.

Who It’s For:
Adults (age 18 and up) No previous therapy experience is necessary. Whether you're newly engaged or planning your wedding day soon, this group offers a supportive space to grow closer to God and each other as you prepare for a lifelong covenant.

Couples seeking a Christian perspective on marriage and those wanting a mix of therapy and theology, and

anyone hoping to start marriage with a shared spiritual foundation

Who It’s NOT For:

  • Couples not open to faith-based guidance: This group centers on Christian values, Scripture, and prayer. Couples who are not comfortable with a Christ-centered approach may not find this format meaningful or aligned with their beliefs.

  • Those seeking individual therapy or crisis support: This group is structured for couples working toward a shared future, not for processing individual trauma, mental health concerns, or acute relational crises such as infidelity or abuse.

  • Couples in need of one-on-one counseling: If a couple is experiencing significant, unresolved conflict or is unsure about whether to stay together, they may benefit more from private couples counseling before participating in a group setting.

  • Those looking for a secular or non-religious approach: If you’re seeking practical tools without a spiritual or biblical component, a more general or secular pre-marital counseling program may be more appropriate.
